1995
Registered a patent firm in Hachioji, Tokyo, Japan. At the same time, Mr. RYUKA made an employment contract with Cushman Darby&Cushuman (Currently registered as Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP)Mainly handled application filings to Japan for Hypernet, I-cube Net and a large patent compa ny in Washington D.C.
1996
Established a translation company “RYUKA” in Virginia, U.S.A. The office opened with Mr. RYUKA and two Japanese employees. Received orders from a Japanese major camera manufacturer. Besides translation, bridged their patent requests to a patent firm in Washington D.C.
Serving as a conduit for IP issues in Japan and U.S.
Distributed IP news to Japanese companies and provided legal consultation.
Held a seminar in Japan having the theme, “Why Japanese Patents are Weak” and “Software Patents” A total of 550 people attended the seminar. Visited Japanese companies with
American lawyers to process existing cases.
Shifted to Shinjuku Office
1998-1999
Mr. Ryuka came back to Japan. Thanks to his networking in the U.S. and legal consultation services provided to Japanese companies, Office RYUKA received many orders.
1999-2000
Hired a technical professional with 15 years of experience filing cases to overseas to expand overseas filing business.
Mr. Ryuka mainly handled cases filed in Japan.
Moreover, Mr. Ryuka has submitted a case analysis of how The United States Patent and
Trademark Office is treating patents for revised software with MPEP(Manual of Patent Examining Procedure), to Japan Intellectual Property Association. Received many comments and orders.
2001
Managed the license contract and patent lawsuit submitted by RYUKA in 1996.
Processed many software related applications for network venture companies.
Started providing IP visualization service
February 2001
Proposed an IP visualization service to existing customers.Defined RYUKA’s mission to better serve inventors and create value for them by providing a variety of invention and patent services.
April 2002
Started an IP visualization service in addition to a patent specification production service.Received orders from Research departments.
October 2003
Received IP visualization service orders from Planning departments.
IP visualization service grew as RYUKA’s main service.
August 2004
Finally received orders from R&D departments with the introduction from a research institution and a Planning department.
Provided strong support to customers with IP consulting services.
